Customers are sources of income for all companies. Success pretty much depends on how well the company communicates with its existing and potential customers. This article focuses on BSC use to evaluate customer relationship strategies. Check additional information about customer performance.

What is the most important success factor in business? Quality products? Low prices? Maybe both? In fact, one may sell expensive products that are not of top quality, but customers will still buy them, because this is exactly what they need at the moment. Friendly relations with customers is perhaps the most critical success factor. Once top managers and business owners learn what customers need and offer them such products, they are doomed to succeed. That's why much attention is paid to relations with customers. Even if customers do not buy from a company, it still maintains relations with them and stays in touch. A customer should feel that he is valued and not forgotten. Such attitude creates a positive image of a producer company and improves customer loyalty. He or she may not make a purchase right now, but when a proper time comes he or she will choose a certain brand just because this company seems loyal.

For this reason, every successful company should be constantly monitoring efficiency of customer relations and performance of customer relationship department. Losing ties and connections with customers means a slow death - sales will not drop immediately, but the company will fade away. There are no nobody's customers. If a person is not buying from company A, he will be certainly buying from company B. This is how modern market works.

Customer perspective is an inseparable part of Balanced Scorecard. BSC is known as one of the most popular and effective performance evaluation and strategic management tools. It is often used to measure efficiency of customer targeted strategies. The four perspectives of BSC generally cover most important success factors, including relations with customers. Key performance indicators in customer perspective are leading measures. As known, there are lagging and leading key performance indicators, i.e. those that show something that already happened and will happen in future. Measurement of customer KPIs tells something that would happen to a company. This is vividly demonstrated in strategy maps in which customer perspective plays an important role. For example, average number of contacts with customers is directly related to sales growth rate, while customer satisfaction influences number of returning customers.

Everything as simple! If a customer is satisfied he or she will certainly buy from the same company on a suitable occasion. At the same time, if a great number of customers were contacted they are more likely to buy from a company which increases sales growth rate. In such a way it becomes possible to forecast future performance of a company. Of course, positive evaluation results of key performance indicators in customer category given no guarantees. Businesses should first and foremost offer high quality products at competitive prices, otherwise no customer strategies will help. People are unwilling to buy if they have better alternatives.

Balanced Scorecard is very flexible tool which means that it is possible to amend strategies and customer related goals depending on changes in the market, appearance of new rivals, changes in market conjuncture etc.
