It is very difficult to successfully implement Balanced Scorecard without knowledge of the system and implementation experience. That is why BSC training is a must. The entire company personnel should be aware of BSC "mechanics", as well as their contribution to implementation of strategic goals. Check additional information about bsc training.

Is BSC training necessary? Well, this is an interesting question that still has no universal answer. Some top managers believe that implementation of Balanced Scorecard is quite an easy process. Thus, they educate just a few persons in the company to use Balanced Scorecard. This is the most typical and yet very serious mistake made in BSC implementation. It is not a secret that Balanced Scorecard works at its fullest potential only if it is used by the entire personnel, otherwise it becomes a top secret tool for top managers. There are even cases when only one person in the company was responsible for implementation of Balanced Scorecard. By the way, that person was a real pro in BSC, but he was the only one to be using Balanced Scorecard.

BSC training is a must for every company that is willing to implement Balanced Scorecard and use it in their work. At that it should be mentioned that top managers should be educated by external advisors and BSC consulting companies. Having undergone training, top management should get personnel involved in working with BSC. Sure, ordinary employees lack knowledge on strategic management and Balanced Scorecard in general. That's why they require training which can be organized inside the company. In other words, top management will share obtained knowledge with their colleagues.

By the way, recent surveys show that only about 20% of top managers are completely satisfied with BSC results if this system was implemented without help of external advisors and BSC consulting companies. What does this figure mean? It means that it is very problematic to successfully implement Balanced Scorecard without special training.

Prior to BSC implementation, many companies first evaluate their BSC knowledge to find out whether or not they are ready to use this revolutionary strategic management tool that communicates operational and strategic management, thus driving strategy into action. Top managers as well as ordinary employees are asked to answer tens of questions about Balanced Scorecard. If most answers are incorrect the company requires BSC education and training. There is nothing worse than to start using Balanced Scorecard being absolutely unprepared.

It often happens that BSC does not serve its primary purpose. Instead, Balanced Scorecard is used as another control or accounting tool. As known, personnel very often opposes use of control tools in management. If employees do not have enough knowledge on Balanced Scorecard there will not understand why they have to use this system. Without such understanding there is no point in BCS implementation.

BSC training is offered in forms of seminars and training sessions held at offices of BSC consulting companies. However, it often happens that Balanced Scorecard specialist come to company offices to instruct employees at their workplaces. They teach company personnel to live with Balanced Scorecard and use it in their everyday work. As already said above this is the only way to succeed in BSC implementation. Only in such a way this tool will change the company forever. Logically, employees should know how to use the system and how they can contribute to implementation of strategic goals.
