PEST is a popular analysis type applied in various industries. Read this article to learn more on PEST benefits for mid and large business. Check additional information about PEST process.

Why are analytical skills valued in all business spheres and industries? Who needs analysis? Why can't business successfully function without a comprehensive strategy and clear strategic goals? These are very frequent questions in the business world. At the same time, not all top managers and business owners have adequate answers. It is clear that having a strategy is a must for any midsize or large company that wants to achieve success and withstand a tough competition that can be found in all markets. Strategy is not only about setting goals like making a lot of money or earning millions of dollars. Strategy is not about goals only. A good strategy explains how these goals will be implemented and what challenges and obstacles will be met on the way. One can find a popular comparison - running business without a strategy is like driving a car or riding a bicycle with your eyes closed. Even if you perfectly know the road or neighborhood there is always probability that you will crash into a car that will all of a sudden appear on a road. The same concerns business. Even if you know the market perfectly well, there is always a probability that a new strong rival shows up. At the same time, it is impossible to implement any strategies without performing a complete analysis of current company performance. Many business owners, shareholders and top managers choose PEST analysis. This article will talk about PEST components.

PEST process starts with analysis of political factors. It is possible to say that political factors are mostly interesting for midsize and big businesses. At the same time political decisions greatly influence economic situation. It happens that even unofficial statements and rumors can cause market breakdowns. Most huge corporations actually analyze political environment. As a rule they have own analytical departments or they outsource and use services of external analysts who can forecast what consequences certain political events might have for business climate in the country.

Then comes the economic factor. Economic situation in the country is partially formed by performance of small, midsize and big business. That's why companies have to analyze economic indicators to find out whether or not introduction of a new product or service will be profitable. For instance, if customer purchasing power is too low there is no point in release of expensive products, since people will simply have no money to buy them.

Social factor should be never underestimated. It is not a secret that business is a social phenomenon. Thus, in order to be successful business owners have to follow all social trends to meet customer needs and preferences. Business goes social these days and this trend shouldn't be ignored in any way. Use of social media (social networking and bookmark in websites) is quite a popular technique to make business social.

The last factor is technological. We're living in the age of tech progress and the Internet. Use of proper IT support and the latest technologies is a must in all industries.
