Motels have to take care of providing guests with the best possible services at reasonable prices. On the one hand, customers want to get the most value for their money while on the other hand hotel owners and managers have to make profits. Balance scorecard will certainly help find the golden means. The point is that the four categories, and indicators inside them, are interrelated. Thus, for example negative results in the customer category will surely lead to regress in financial category. At the same time such negative customer results might be triggered in imperfections in learning and growth and internal processes categories.

In order to better understand cause and effect ties it is very important to build a strategy map that visualizes strategy is and makes them comprehensive and easy to grasp even for ordinary personnel which is far from the world of strategic planning. Strategy maps vividly demonstrate cause and effect ties and sort of tell motel employees what should be done in order to achieve strategic goals and improve performance.
