Fordism came from Henry Ford who was a prominent industrialist and was the founder of the Ford Motor Company. Fordism can be applied to any type of process in the manufacturing industry. The main aim of this concept is to make people understand that workers should be able to afford goods. There are three principles used in fordism and they are the use of tools with special purposes through the assembly line, the product standardization and the elimination in direct production of laborers who are skilled at the same time as the worker receives higher wages. Fordism in the United States is seen as a consumption and mass production system particularly during the 1940s up to the 1960s. Now, experts have devised a way to combine lean and fordism. As a result, lean management fordism is designed. This allows companies to work together with the market demand and therefore, it is easy to realize the requirements of the purchasers. The workers are viewed as customers so the businesses are able to sense what their needs are in order to solve their problems particularly in the financial department. Even though they are your employees, you should not forget that they are also purchasers too. Therefore, they also have the need to buy products or goods that they will be using for their everyday lives. Just like the founder of fordism, business owners should be able to find a way in order for their employees to be able to have enough money for the things that they need. With lean management fordism, even if you have workers with lesser skills, you should be able to standardize your production methods for every job there is so that each employee will be suited to the specific production method that you have implemented for them to work on.
