Stomatology is a study regarding the diseases concerning the mouth and other things associated with it. Originally, this was practiced only physicians. As years passed however, this has become a field that is mostly dealt with by the dentists. Stomatology includes the study of the hygiene of an individual of the oral cavity, control for hygiene, parodentium sickness and many others. With regards to the stomatologist ratios, the appropriateness for studying here is defined by the student percentages that conclude their learning with respect to those who started it. Many people refer to this as dental medicine and even dentistry.

There are now many advances on the stomatology study. Among them include forensic stomatology which is treated as a separate part of the medical discipline. This is because of the fact that this is only recent and this has not yet been introduced to other countries. Generally, stomatology is a basic medical field. What is actually involved here is the studies that will help diagnose, treat and prevent different diseases that affect the oral cavity, tissues, organs and teeth. The stomatologists provide services in the type of outpatient care. There are some facilities, however, that provide inpatient care but it is only for the small part of the treatment.

Stomatology ratios at present differ greatly from the previous as there are now several individuals who are interested in studying this medical field. Basically, a stomatologist will work together with health service staff, dental technician, dental hygienist, x-ray technician and a nurse. Forensic stomatology is just one of the different branches of this. Today, there is what we call the therapeutic stomatology that deals with the dental decay and the diseases surrounding it. There is also children's stomatology that deals with the milk dentition and its care as the youngsters develop permanent teeth. Periodontics is another, which is heavily focused on the diseases concerning the periodontium tissues as well as the complications in the mucous membrane of the oral cavity.

Orthopedic stomatology is also called dental prosthetics. This deals with the substitution of the sections of the crowns along with the teeth losses and generally provides total replacement for every lost tooth by means of the application and the production of different dental prostheses such as removable dentures. On the other hand, surgical stomatology is all about the surgical treatment for the diseases in the oral cavity.

Stomatology graduates will have to be ready both in the theories regarding the study and in the application. Unlike dentists however, the stomatologists will only be receiving general knowledge that he can use in order to make the right decisions in treatment of the patient. He can refer them to the dental offices where they will be given care. A graduate has the choice to continue studying or acquire higher degree in this matter. Meanwhile, those who want to work as a specialist in the field of maxillofacial surgery or orthodontics can do so. In view of the fact that the number of students differs during the lessons in particular years, the exact image of good organization cannot be given the impression on the foundation of the graduation index. This is without taking into account the graduation performed on time.
