When it comes to playing back the recorded scripts, there are some things that you have to know. There are two stages of the playback of test scripts and they are the test development and the regression testing. In the former, this is where you verify the script and set up a baseline. In the latter, this is where you compare the structure of the test script and this is also where you can identify whether there are errors in the script. Before you play the automated test script, make sure that you have set your preferences for playback. Additionally, guarantee that the application under the test is in the same condition it was in when you have recorded the script. This means that if there were windows and any other applications that were open when you recorded the script were open you should bring them up once again before you start the playback.

Once you have set the conditions when you run the test script, you can now execute it. Oftentimes, you will find in the tool that you are using the Run icon wherein you can just click it to start the playback. When the implementation is complete, you can click on Finish. Usually, you will be asked whether you would like to overwrite the log particularly if you have already run the test before. After that, you can obtain the test results that are reported in detail. So you see, automated testing allows you to record and playback script which are both helpful in simplifying the entire process of running and reusing the test script that you have created.
