The basic understanding of lean management is very simple, it is considered by many as a practise but it is more than that Lean management concept will help us better in understanding the sciences of lean management. Organizations functions on financial values and indicators, but implementing Lean management concepts will require more than that, applying Lean management concepts to an organization requires lean mind set and the changes made will not be automated, but will require some constant push. In that case the constant reinforcement and push comes from the lean thinkers of the organization that implements the Lean management concepts in an organization.

Lean management concepts are easy to understand, they are simplistic and yet very effective. Lean management concepts include steps like, understanding the viewpoint of the costumer, the identification of the steps involved in value stream, the steps creating value should be moved to the costumer, allow costumer to pull value from upstream activity and always look for perfection.

Lean management concepts include understanding the most simplistic but powerful ideology behind the working of lean management and then applying it to the organization considering the structure and constraints of the organization. The most basic or simplistic idea behind lean is the efficient and correct usage of the work force to foster maximum results. Lean thinkers of the organization must look forward to implement lean principles in the organization and at the same time they should also help others to understand the Lean management concepts.

There are numerous differences between a lean manager and a traditional manager. Lean manager would be the one, who understands and follows the Lean management concepts, while a traditional manager resorts to the traditional knowledge to solve the problems of the organization. A lean manager understanding the Lean management concepts will always look for betterment in the working order and will never let go of an opportunity to make the process and organization better. Lean managers would challenge the established order or process of things even if they are working fine, just to maximize their potential. Fresh ideas and creative way of working is always welcomed by a lean manager, mistakes are viewed as a stepping stone and learning stops. In case of a problem, the problem is studied systematically in order to understand the cause so that it can be avoided in future.
