They have a common goal: to motivate employees to do their best at their jobs. The reason behind soft management programs is simple: when employees are contented, they are likely to be more productive. Motivation is often overlooked by managers who put primary focus on the accomplishment of quality output as the key to good management. The problem is how to get quality output out of the employees. Definitely, hiring the most talented and improving workers skills has got a lot to do with it, but along the way, other strategies must be used to keep employees' energies and enthusiasm at a high level. And motivational techniques are the primary tools that many managers find helpful. Managers make use of evaluations to gauge the productivity of individual employees. To do this, target outputs are compared with actual outputs. The results of these evaluations are good starting points in determining whether the staff development programs are working or not. Falling productivity is a clear indication that something is wrong. It will not do to just attribute such inefficiency to lack of skills for other issues could be involved as well. Identifying the issues is the initial step in developing a relevant employee motivational program. Motivating employees is not as easy as it appears.
