Business intelligence for airlines is relatively new. Incorporating this with the help of the appropriate software tool is then a must. Check additional information about Business Intelligence for Airlines.

Business intelligence is a relatively new industry - one that not too many companies have mastered altogether still. Particularly a new field in the industry would be business intelligence for airlines. Airline companies are far from exempt when it comes to business intelligence, and this can be attributed to the recent security risks and threats in the international terrorism scene. With that said, it is only fitting that airline companies take it upon themselves to incorporate business intelligence and have just the right mix of tools implemented.

The main challenge in business intelligence pertains to what to do with all of the available information gathered by the software or the application enterprises would be using. This would greatly depend on the nature of the operations of your airline company as well as the features and specs of the application that you are going to get. The great thing about this is that most tools in the market provide a lot of flexibility - enough so that customization is made easier and resultantly, this makes the reviewing of historical data, the identification of relevant patterns, and the making of business decisions faster and more convenient as well. It just cannot be denied how airline companies find themselves in a dynamically competitive field and environment that is constantly growing and adapting to both internal and external changes. Thus, it really pays to do much research and in-depth analysis so as to get the most appropriate business intelligence software for your airline company.

As mentioned above, business intelligence software applications would have different specs and features that can be custom-fit to the needs of your airline company. However, most applications would carry a basic package of specs and features that are deemed necessary for the operations of any airline company. These could very well include channel analytics, financial performance, financial profitability, customer loyalty, maintenance and engineering, route efficiency, and operational efficiency.

Not only that - business intelligence software applications would carry much expertise in the fields of reporting, analysis, and data integration. For reporting and analysis, the following platforms and applications could be used: IBM Cognos, Microsoft BI, SAS, MicroStrategy, Oracle Hyperion, and SAP BusinessObjects. For data integration, the following could be used: Microsoft Integration Services, IBM DataStage, Informatica, Oracle Warehouse Builder, and SAP BusinessObjects Data Integrator.

When it comes to cargo operations, business intelligence software would focus on efficiency, speed, and reliability. These are the factors that influence the success of air cargo operations. Applications still give focus on several domains, including cargo reservation, cargo rating, cargo movement, cargo delivery, operations interface, ground handling, and many more.

Airline crew management, meanwhile, is one facet that business intelligence software pays attention to. Airline crew management is all about finding minimum cost assignment of the airline's flight crews to given flight schedules while, at the same time, being able to satisfy existing restrictions. The following comprise airline crew management and SHOULD be considered in your tool for business intelligence for airlines: crew scheduling, crew planning, special competency, contract rules management, crew manifest, crew manning by load, meals onboard, vacation, absence, and sick management, training, and simulator training.
