If a company is able to come up with an effective training program, then it will surely garner positive results for itself. There are even times when the positive results would be more than what the company originally bargained for. However, if the training program yields only negative results, then this cannot be good for the company in any way. In the end, the company will have just made a useless investment in this particular training program without any returns whatsoever. And we all know how expensive training can be in the corporate setting. Still, there are a good many ways for companies to reduce training costs, and one of these is the development of tools that can be categorized under business intelligence. Such tools actually assist the company in the evaluation of training so that it can improve all of its methodologies consistently. Businesses do need to foster changes, especially the ones that are healthy in nature. One very effective way to measure training is to check the performance of the trainees once they step out of the training room and right onto the live or production floor already. After all, with the training they just went through, you would expect certain effects on the production floor, right? If the presence of the newly-trained employees gives off positive results in terms of production, then the training program is deemed effective. If the opposite occurs, however, then training is deemed ineffective. But this is not enough when you want to get into the nitty-gritty of the process of measuring training. An in-depth and systematic analysis of the training program should be conducted, and this is where the importance of metrics takes place. Being the quantifiable figures that they are, metrics can greatly help in determining just how effective training is, right down to determining the aspects that the training program are good at, and the aspects that need improvement as well. For one thing, data per employee should be made available for the training department so that the data itself can validate the effectiveness of training. Analysis findings can even be studied to determine if there are any gaps in the training system that need to be filled. These gaps can also be used to indicate if there is indeed a need to revise the training curriculum in any way. Another thing to consider when you want to know how to measure training is the implementation of a performance alignment program. Such pertains to the setting of expectations by each of the trainees as to how they expect to be evaluated and measured. This is needed to check if the expectations of the employees are indeed aligned with that of the training team.
