Automobile KPI data refers to the key performance indicators that are being used in order to determine how your vehicle performs. It will tell you if your vehicle is performing at an optimum level, when the time has come for a tune up, or when the time has come to junk your vehicle.

In the same way that an organization or company is made up of several working parts called departments, a car is made up of several working systems - much like the human body. These systems, such as the power, transmission, suspension, furnishings, and the like, all work together to give it its overall rating. These systems will be the source of the key performance indicators that you will be using later to rate your car as to performance, functionality, and efficiency.

The first thing to do is to know what indicators reveal your vehicle's performance. You may need to consult with an automotive mechanic to know and understand these indicators. However, if you have been driving this car since it was brand new up to this time, then you basically have a bird's eye view of the manner your car performs at its best. This will be your basis in comparing the performance your car has at the time you bought it and this present time you are testing it. But before you start examining your automobile, you must remember that there is really no constant information that will establish a line as to whether your automobile performs well or not. The only thing you must consider is the relation of economy to efficiency - in that efficiency is not sacrificed by economy.

Fuel efficiency is usually the first thing that car buyers look at, given the economic crisis we are currently in. The more miles you get with a gallon of fuel, whether diesel or gasoline, the better your automobile performs. This is because if you are able to go longer distances with lesser fuel, it means that your engine has an efficient fuel burn rating and less fuel goes to waste.

Engine power is another performance indicator. Generally, the more powerful the engine, the better it performs. However, there comes a time when a 1.8-liter engine is better than a V8. How, you ask? The V8 engine is more suited for speed driving. You will find the best use for it in this world by driving in the Autobahn. However, if you are one of those regular city drivers, a 1.8-liter engine will be best for you. Come to think of it, engine power is dependent on your needs, not your wants. It is highly impractical for you to want a V8 when driving through Spain and really short-minded if you want to drive a 1.8 engine in Germany.

These are only two of the many performance indicators of your vehicle. All you have to think about is if you are getting more out of the little money you paid, your car must be performing well. Adversely, if you paid a lot for such poor performance, you must start thinking about getting another car. All these, plus a few more, are the automobile KPIs you must consider.
