How to search documents on computer |

As you have more and more capacity upgrade for storing files, the more difficult it is to find any specific file you need in short time. Luckily Microsoft Windows have the 'search' tool, which you can find by clicking the 'start' button on the lower left side of desktop. After that, you can just type in the file name, type, size, and any other specific characteristic of file you want to search. The available options have made it easy to find any kind of file just in time. But now more people have upgraded their computer or notebook operating system to Windows Vista. If you are one of them and do not know where to find the 'search' function, continue reading. If you use Windows Vista, there are actually new search features that are more powerful as compared to the former Windows. All the file management features have been improved to be in line with the rising numbers of data we put in our hard disk nowadays. So you do not have to worry about the search function. In Windows Vista, you can find the search function as soon as you click the 'Start' button. The search box is there, you can start typing the name of file you want to find. Soon after you type the first letter, the search engine in Windows Vista will begin showing the list of applications, files, folders, or documents that start with the typed in letter. You can see the list on the right top of 'Start' menu. When you continue with other letters, the list will be revised and refined to match what you are typing. So soon after you finish with the typing, the file, folder, application, or document you search will have shown up there. The shown list are categorized from the bottom to the top, from the most likely to the less likely of files you want. Once you see the file, just press 'Enter' and the file will be open. The same easiness will apply if you use the function 'Search Internet', where Windows Vista will automatically do the search on MSN Search and the found list will immediately show up in an Internet Explorer window. There is also a secondary search tool in Windows Vista, that is 'Search Computer'. This secondary 'Search' function works as fast and reliable as the primary one. The difference is that this one let you to add further search criteria. There is 'Add Filter' button to click and a dropdown list showing the variety of filters will turn up. Just choose what you need. If there is other criteria to be included, you can repeat the process by clicking 'Add Filter'. Also, there is 'Boolean' operators which enables you to search by adding the criteria of 'And' and 'Or'. Windows Vista also has the service of Indexing, which you can access by clicking the button 'Indexing' and 'Search Options' in Control Panel. You can choose which locations you want to index, so your future search will be much faster.
