The interplay of these aspects determines whether or not a company is performing well. Hence the term balanced; there must be a significant balance amongst these aspects in order to ensure that there is stability within the operational and organizational structure of the company. Using the instrument is not a simple task. In fact, all aspects must be taken into consideration to ensure a smooth working environment. The success of the implementation depends on the strategy of the management, which must be sound, stable, and effective. The implementation of the Balanced Scorecard starts with the management. The implementing body must make sure that the process is well supported and well studied. There must not be any error at this early stage of implementation. Time is not of the essence here, so the management can take all the time that is needed to make sure that everything is in order. Once all aspects of initial implementation have been covered, it is then time to create a plan of implementation, listing the steps that need to be taken and the possible remedies in case of mistakes. The respondents must also be communicated with for their own preparation. The management must also take into consideration what performance measures to take for each performance area. There must be a definite and concrete method to quantify the results of each area of observation to give meaning to the values obtained. These measures must be transmitted to all the members of the company to ensure that there is an equal treatment in the collection of data for evaluation. There may even be a need to implement the Balanced Scorecard more than once if the population has become too unmanageable for only one implementation. This will take the most time. The management must take into consideration the allotted period for the implementation and must include into the strategy the specific periods of time that will probably be consumed for each stage. The management must also be prepared for any situation that may arise. This may range from a change in performance of a worker by reason of being observed, or the complete refusal of a worker to cooperate with the implementation. The hardest part is always to prepare for balanced scorecard implementation because this stage will attempt to cover the entire process, although estimated, of the implementation.
