It is true that managing a crew in an aircraft is almost no different to other forms of people management. However, there are certain things that are present in an aircraft or airport industry that are not present in normal jobs. These things are essential for a manager to know so he can manage his team effectively. Crew management KPI may be an easy scorecard task for some, but it certainly is a challenge for many new managers who do not have years of experience to back them up. The first thing that one has to consider in managing his crew for an aircraft is the salary. If these people are not compensated well enough, they are not likely to perform well. In essence, this principle is just about the same with a lot of industries out there. However, performance is more critical in aircrafts since one cannot afford to make a mistake in checking the engines and such just because the employee is not motivated. Always keep the salaries competitive in the industry to make the crewmembers happy and satisfied. Another way to manage people is through incentives. There is a catch here. Employees should not be given incentives for doing their jobs right. This is precisely because they are being paid to do things right. What we mean by incentive is that they should get perks of they did more than what is expected of them. This form of management should be transparent to the employees so they would not think that it is the company's obligation to give them extra money for doing their jobs right. There should be substantial medical reimbursement or a coverage plan for these employees, should they get into accidents or contact diseases. There are very few things that these employees can do, especially if they have been in the industry for so long. Their skills are focused in the aircraft world and there may be no other skills they can use in different jobs. Another issue in managing people who work for aircrafts is the working environment. It has to be kept safe all the time. The working environment plays a crucial factor in making an employee work happily or not. If it is too hot, employees may grumble and may drag themselves to work. Temperature is just an example. There are other essential things in the working environment that one can look into, such as the place itself, cleanliness, and others. Lastly, one of the many things forsaken in crew management KPI is the learning process. Technology advances frequently and at a very rapid speed. Employees need to be updated on these changes to improve their skills. Without a management action plan in the employees' learning, one cannot expect these employees to perform well. They will be outdated and they will not be able to perform their functions at their maximized level of efficiency. hey can use in different jobs. annot afford to make a mistake in checking the engines and such just because the employee is If you are interested in airplane crew management scorecard, check this link to find out more about airplane crew analysis dashboard.
